2021 Explorer Power on the Road

The Ford Explorer has three incredible powertrains for drivers to choose from to get the ideal levels of performance they need.

The standard 2.3L EcoBoost® I-4 engine starts drivers off with incredible power. It offers 300 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. Plus, it comes standard with RWD (rear-wheel drive) so you'll have the means to tow up to 5,300 pounds when properly equipped.

The next available engine is the 3.0L EcoBoost® V6 which can achieve up to 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque. On top of that serious strength under the hood, this engine comes standard with intelligent 4WD (four-wheel drive) which can help you to reach the Explorer's available 5,600-pound maximum towing capacity.

If it's efficiency you want, the available 3.3L V6 hybrid powertrain can offer up to 318 horsepower and 322 lb-ft of torque.
